Announcing Gary J Shipley’s DREAMS OF AMPUTATION

Copeland Valley has been hard at work these last few months preparing our latest release. I’ve noticed a (dare I say) trend in modern day publishing: shit on authors, shit on editing, shit on formatting and designing. Book publishing is an ancient art that (all in the last decade or so) has quickly transformed into…well, this:

badcover

These books are typically written in a couple of weeks, the cover art is usually thrown together in a day, and the interior is usually formatted within an hour. Do these books sell? I have no earthly idea. But even if they do, how could the author or the publisher be proud of their work? I mean really, take a good look at the artwork above…a really good look. What the fuck? Right?

That’s not the game we play here at Copeland Valley. We spend months reading through submissions, sometimes even rejecting manuscripts that most any decent press would proudly publish, searching for the absolute best of the best. This unfortunately means that we only end up publishing around 2 or 3 books a year at most. But I, for one, would much rather publish a handful of beautiful books a year (and barely scrape by) than publish 5-10 every quarter, with each wave drowning in a sea of other waves (wait…am I making sense right now? It’s quite early here and I haven’t been to bed yet. My apologies).

Anyway, so here we are at the end of October and we are announcing our second release of the year. This one I am particularly excited about because the story is a beautifully written, stylistic, nightmarish, sci-fi/fantasy penned by a young author who is sure to light the fiction world on fire in the near future (and this book is a perfect start). The author is Gary J Shipley. His book is DREAMS OF AMPUTATION. Copeland Valley release number 007 (which is suitable, since the author is a fellow Brit).

Coming Soon.
